What you will do
Secure Your Funding: You will be receiving guidance on financial success and preparing to secure funding for your business.
Build Your Network and Skills: You will be connecting with fellow female business owners, experiencing the power of female support, and expanding your network at Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce (GNCC) events.
Master Your Pitch: You will be sharpening your entrepreneurial skills and learning how to confidently pitch your ideas to potential investors.
Become a Market Expert: You will be mastering your target market, developing a winning business strategy, and building relationships with other regional businesses.
Launch Your Business: You will have a free in-person retail space in beautiful St. Catharines to run your beauty business and build your clientele.

Experience
Founder of Black-Owned 905. Born and raised in St. Catharines, Natasha is an Underground Railroad freedom seeker descendant with strong family ties to the Salem Chapel, BME Church NHS. She is also proud of her Trinidadian heritage and culture, which she believes helped strengthen her interest and involvement in all things Black, including activism. Tasha is an active member of Matter of Black and hopes to be able to use her voice to make a change within the community.

Community Engagement Worker - Black Women's Economic Security
Contract Length: 1 year

Position Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Community Engagement Worker to join our organization on a full time basis (35 hours per week). The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our mission by engaging with the community and collaborating with various stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:

Organizing and coordinating community events, workshops, and seminars aimed at empowering and supporting Black youth.

Establishing partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and community groups to expand the reach and impact of Future Black Female initiatives.

Developing and implementing outreach programs to engage with Black women in the community, including mentorship programs, networking events, and educational sessions.

Managing social media platforms to promote community engagement activities, share resources, and raise awareness about issues affecting Black youth.

Advocating for the needs and interests of Black women in the community through lobbying, awareness campaigns, and participation in community forums.

Collaborating with other community organizations and stakeholders on projects and initiatives that align with the mission and goals of Future Black Female.

Collecting feedback from community members and participants to assess the effectiveness of programs and identify areas for improvement.
Experience:
The ideal candidate should possess a robust background in outreach and facilitation, particularly focusing on youth engagement. Experience in designing and implementing community programs that effectively reach and empower racialized, marginalized, and discriminated communities is essential. The candidate should demonstrate a proven ability to build trust and establish strong relationships within these communities.
Outreach and Facilitation for Youth:

Experience in conducting outreach initiatives that actively engage youth, particularly those from racialized backgrounds.

Facilitation of workshops, focus groups, and community events aimed at addressing the needs and challenges faced by youth in the community.

Ability to develop youth-led initiatives that empower participants to take an active role in their communities.
Community Engagement:

Strong understanding of the unique challenges faced by racialized and marginalized communities, with a commitment to advocating for their needs and interests.

Experience collaborating with community organizations, schools, and local businesses to create programs that enhance access to resources and opportunities for underrepresented youth.
Program Development:

Proven experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating community engagement programs that promote equity and inclusivity.

Ability to assess community needs through surveys, interviews, and focus groups to inform program development.
Relationship Building:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster positive relationships with community members, stakeholders, and partners.

Experience in engaging with diverse populations and understanding cultural sensitivities to create an inclusive environment.
Advocacy & Awareness:

Experience in raising awareness about issues affecting marginalized communities through advocacy campaigns and community events.

Connecting with local media and stakeholders to promote FBF’s mission and programs.
Communication and Team Work:

Experience in coordinating with various stakeholders to facilitate partnerships that enhance community engagement efforts.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Social Work, Sociology, Community Development, Communications, or a related discipline is often preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Reviewing company policies and procedures, ensuring employees understand them, and providing explanations or clarifications when necessary.

Developing comprehensive onboarding programs to welcome and integrate new employees into the organization.

Collaborating with hiring managers to draft accurate job descriptions.

Managing the recruitment process by posting job vacancies, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and coordinating candidate assessments.

Overseeing various HR administrative tasks, such as maintaining employee records and responding to inquiries from employees regarding HR-related matters.

Experience and Qualifications:

Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Knowledge of human resources practices and laws, including familiarity with relevant legislation such as the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and the Employment Standards Act.

A diploma or degree in Human Resources or related field is preferred, demonstrating a foundational understanding of HR principles and practices.

Social Issues Researcher - Black Women's Economic Security
