Eligibility
Female entrepreneurs between the ages of 18-25 in the beauty industry
Location & format
In-person at the Future Black Female marketplace in St. Catharine
What you will do
Secure Your Funding: You will be receiving guidance on financial success and preparing to secure funding for your business.
Build Your Network and Skills: You will be connecting with fellow female business owners, experiencing the power of female support, and expanding your network at Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce (GNCC) events.
Master Your Pitch: You will be sharpening your entrepreneurial skills and learning how to confidently pitch your ideas to potential investors.
Become a Market Expert: You will be mastering your target market, developing a winning business strategy, and building relationships with other regional businesses.
Launch Your Business: You will have a free in-person retail space in beautiful St. Catharines to run your beauty business and build your clientele.

Experience
Founder of Black-Owned 905. Born and raised in St. Catharines, Natasha is an Underground Railroad freedom seeker descendant with strong family ties to the Salem Chapel, BME Church NHS. She is also proud of her Trinidadian heritage and culture, which she believes helped strengthen her interest and involvement in all things Black, including activism. Tasha is an active member of Matter of Black and hopes to be able to use her voice to make a change within the community.

Social Issues Researcher - Black Women's Economic Security.
Contract Length: 12 months (July 1 -June 31, 2025)
Hours: 35 hours/week
Salary: $50,500 Annually plus benefits
Location: St Catharines (Not a Remote/Hybrid position)
Social Issues Researcher - Job Description (1 position)
Overview:
Future Black Female (FBF) is dedicated to the economic security and prosperity of Black women in Ontario. We aim to create systemic change by addressing intersectional barriers to equality for diverse women, and we are looking for a passionate Social Issue Researcher to join our team.
Position Summary:
The social issue researcher will be responsible for maintaining strong working relationships with high schools, colleges and universities as well as other agencies and organizations such as immigration centers. The role involves providing statistical and other vetted information that guides and supports FBF’s advocacy and programming goals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Working as the day-to-day social issues researcher for FBF.
• Developing strategic research agendas to contribute directly to our services and programs.
• Contribute to building, overseeing, and maintaining FBF’s database and
research portfolio.
• Spearhead knowledge translation and exchange with stakeholders.
• Support community-focused endeavours and brand partnerships.
• Maintain and build relationships with stakeholders and potential sponsors.
• Develop research materials including literature reviews, fact sheets and
infographics, blog posts, etc.; when asked.
• Provide monthly internal and event summary reports.
Skills:

Strong understanding of intersectional feminism, anti-oppression, and anti-racism principles.

Critical Thinking.

Strong analytical skills to assess and interpret complex data and research findings.

Cultural Competency and understanding and sensitivity to the cultural, social, and economic issues affecting Black women.

Technical Proficiency in statistical software (such as SPSS, R, or STATA) and qualitative data analysis tools (like NVivo or ATLAS.ti).

Proficiency in using databases and research tools.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency in project management and evaluation.
Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Public Health, Public Policy, Social Work, Sociology, Community Development, Gender Studies or related discipline is required. A masters degree is preferred.

A minimum of two years experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative research, including study design, data collection and analysis, and presenting findings and working with diverse populations.
